Released by arrangement
with BBC Enterprises Ltd. Between March 1962 and June 1965, the Beatles played songs on 52 shows broadcast nationwide by the BBC's Light Programme. British pop fans who tuned to Saturday Club, Easy Beat, Top Gear or Pop Go The Beatles were treated to exclusive radio performances of both the familiar hits and the more unusual material from the group's eclecitic pre-fame repertoire. Taken from the album "Live At The BBC", "Baby It's You" is augmented on this EP by three radio recordings that are released here for the first time. "Baby It's You" - recorded 1st June 1963, used on "Pop Go The Beatles" on 11th June 1963. From the BBC Paris Theatre London. The Beatles covered this song on the "Please Please Me" album. This BBC interpretation has a cute ending instead of the familiar fade-out that can be found on the record. "I'll Follow The Sun" - recorded 17th November 1964, used on "Top Gear" on 26th November 1964. From the Playhouse Theatre London. Released on "Beatles For Sale", this track was featured along with three other songs from the album, during their second appearance with Brian Matthew on his late night show. "Devil In Her Heart" - recorded 16th July 1963, used on "Pop Go The Beatles" on 20th August 1963. From the BBC Paris Theatre London. The marathon BBC session of 16th July 1963 - eighteen songs for three programmes - gave an opportunity to try out this song by girl-group The Donays and two days later the EMI version was taped for the second album "With The Beatles". "Boys" - recorded 17th June 1963, used on "Pop Go The Beatles" on 25th June 1963. From the BBC Maida Vale Studios London. The Beatles first album includes "Boys" and this BBC take was selected from the seven occasions they recorded it for the radio. |

Five-track promo EP to
promote the release in November 2013 of the new album The Beatles - On
Air - Live At The BBC Volume 2. UK record shop company HMV gave away 300 copies at its shop at 363 Oxford Street, London on 14 October 2013 to commemorate the company's return to its original premises. The HMV copies have a round black and white sticker on the back cover with the "Nipper" logo, outer perimeter script that reads "HMV Is Home - 363 Oxford St. London", and inner perimeter script that reads "Exclusive Re-launch Product - 18th October 2013". An accompanying HMV flyer states: "This is to certify that this Limited Edition item was presented to celebrate the official re-opening of the historic hmv store at 363 Oxford Street on Friday 18th October. Part of the fabric of British music and synonymous with music retail, 363's importance was formally recognised in 2000, when Sir George Martin unveiled a blue plaque outside the store reading '363 Oxford Street - The World's Most Famous Music Store'. The store was originally opened in 1921 by Sir Edward Elgar and is notable as being the location where The Beatles cut the demo disc that led to them signing with EMI." Records by The Beatles, Elvis Presley and New order will be given away at the new flagship HMV store on Oxford Street. The free vinyl will be available each day at the retailer's newly-reopened shop on 363 Oxford Street on a first-come-first-served basis when doors open at 8am. A 7" promo for The Beatles' 'Live On Air Volume 2' will be the first to be given away on Monday (October 14). Some 300 copies of a limited 7" to support the forthcoming album of BBC recordings of the same name will be made available. A limited colour pressing of Elvis Presley's eponymous 1956 debut album will be given away on Tuesday (October 15). Some 100 copies will be on offer. Some 100 copies of a clear vinyl version of New Order's 'Movement' will be available for free on Wednesday (October 16), while 30 copies of a rare 10" 78 RPM Robbie Williams promotional disc will be available on Thursday (October 17). It contains these tracks: 1. Words of Love Pop Go The Beatles / Trans: 20 August 1963 / Rec: 16 July 1963 / BBC Paris Theatre, London / Producer: Terry Henebery 2.
