COMMENTS
Capitol prepared its promotion copy of the single prior to receiving the new 2:57 mix. Thus, the promotion record lists  "Penny Lane" at 3:00 and contains Remix 11 with its unique rumpet solo ending. Capitol reportedly pressed later promotion records using the new mix; however, this has not been confirmed.
Promotion records, Capitol issued as double A side (Strawberry Fields Forever has lower master number).
All genuine pressings of this single were pressed at Capitol's Los Angeles plant (look for an asterisk * in the dead-wax) .
This is the first of the mid-60s promotional Beatles issues on the Capitol label.

Regular record:
First Press: Orange and yellow swirl label without "subsidary" print.
The picture sleeve, Capitol used the same pictures, graphics and layout of the British sleeve.
One side of the sleeve features a color photo of the group taken by Jean-Marie Perier.
This photo was taken the same day as the Strawberry Fields Forever /Pany Lane promo film shoots on 30 and 31 January 1967, in Knole Park in Sevenoaks.
The other side of the sleeve is designed to look like a page from a photo album, complete with mounting corners and childhood pictures of the Beatles.
A circlar "PRINTED IN U.S.A." appears in the upper right corner of the photo album side.
Initial pressings of the record incorrectly list the running time of "Penny Lane" at 3:00. The later issue was corrected 2:57 time.

There are East Coast and West Coast version.
East Coast version (type 1-A): picture sleeve issued in straight cut top.
West Coast version (type 1-B): picture sleeve issued tub cut.

Initial pressings of the record incorrectly list the running time of "Penny Lane" at 3:00. That is the length of Remix 11. Remix 14, which does not have the ending trumpet solo, was sent to Capitol a week later to replace the earlier version. Its running time is 2:57. By the time Capitol received the new and shorter mix, labels had already been printed with the time listed at 3:00. Rather than risk a delayed release and incur additional printing costs, Capitol decided to press the 45 with the existing labels.

Nearly all of the Capitol Beatles' records were pressed by Capitol on both the East Coast and the West Coast.
1) East Coast singles pressed with labels printed by Keystone Printed Specialities Co., Inc. of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
: picture sleeve issued in straight cut top. (=this record)
2) West Coast singles pressed with labels printed by Bert-Co Enterprises of Los Angeles, California.
: picture sleeve issued tub cut.

Initial pressings of the record incorrectly list the running time of "Penny Lane" at 3:00. That is the length of Remix 11, was sent to Capitol on 18th. January and contains the seven-note trumpet solo at the end.
Although discs with the 3:00 labels are first pressings, records listing the time as 2:57 sre slightly more valuable because fewer of these later discs were made.
