Original first
pressing of "The Beatles' Second Album" released in 1964 on
the German Odeon White & Gold label type-1: This is an extremely rare album. Never released in the UK, it features songs that were included on the US album of the same name yet bears a different cover photograph. This cover shot is of the band on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. These were only available on German military bases and a few were exported to Switzerland (maybe). 1st. Press: "BIEM" and "GEMA" in a box logo were printed on both sides of the label. 2nd. Press: "BIEM" was erased, "GEMA" in a box logo were printed on both sides of the label. The Original Odeon label (stereo) LP's appear in two slightly different styles. The first of these styles, features the following print around the rim of the label: ALLE RECHTE DES PLATTENHERSTELLERS UND EIGENTÜMERS DES AUFGENNOMMENEN WERKES VORBEHALTEN. VERVIELFÄLTIGUNG, ÖFFENTLICHE AUFFÜHRUNG. RUNDFUNKSENDUNG UNTERSAGT (ALL RIGHTS OF THE OWNER OF SHEET MANUFACTURER AND BEEN EXCLUDED WORK RESERVED. COPYING, PUBLIC PERFORMANCE. RADIO BROADCAST PROHIBITED) *BIEM (Bureau International des Societes Gerant les Droits d'Enregistrement et de Reproduction Mecanique) handles the copyrights for 52 different countries. * GEMA (Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs- und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte.) was started in 1915 and handles the copyright in Germany. |
