label type-1: The Original Odeon label (stereo) LP's appear in two slightly different styles. The first of these styles, features the following print around the rim of the label: ALLE RECHTE DES PLATTENHERSTELLERS UND EIGENTÜMERS DES AUFGENNOMMENEN WERKES VORBEHALTEN. VERVIELFÄLTIGUNG, ÖFFENTLICHE AUFFÜHRUNG. RUNDFUNKSENDUNG UNTERSAGT (ALL RIGHTS OF THE OWNER OF SHEET MANUFACTURER AND BEEN EXCLUDED WORK RESERVED. COPYING, PUBLIC PERFORMANCE. RADIO BROADCAST PROHIBITED) In mid 1966, the rim print was changed on all Odeon releases to read: URHEBER. UND LEISTUNGSSCHUTZRECHTE, BESONDERS VERVIELFÄLTIGUNG (AUSSER ZUM PERSÖNLICHEN GEBRAUCH), VERMIETUNG. AUFFÜHRUNG, SENDUNG, VORBEHALTEN (COPYRIGHT AND PROPERTY RIGHTS, ESPECIALLY REPRODUCTION (EXCEPT FOR PERSONAL USE), RENT, PERFORMANCE, BROADCAST) Housed in a fully laminated German printed cover 'SMO 83 790' numbered cover with a fully intact "gold" STEREO sticker. Stereo copies pressed prior to the elimination of mono are found with a large, round, gold stereo sticker (A.K.A. "Mirror Ball mark"). Stereo copies of those same LP's and of the next few (stereo-only) LP's are normally found with a smaller, rectangular stereo sticker. Later stereo LP's are found either with the contents of the stereo sticker printed on the cover itself or without any stereo sticker.

type-1: "EMI / Odeon" logo mark in black ink was printed at the top of the blue label. "GEMA" logo in a box was printed on both sides of the label. "MADE IN GERMANY" and ST 33 in a circle for stereo edition were printed. EMI / Odeon Blue label variations: Type-1: GEMA logo in a box / ST 33 in a circle Type-2: GEMA without box / ST 33 in a circle Type-3-1:GEMA without box / ST 33 in a oval Type-3-2:GEMA without box and (P) 196X / ST 33 in a oval Type-4: 062 with "LC" mark / ST 33 in a oval Type-5: 072 with "LC" mark / ST 33 in a oval The change to the blue label came during the second half of 1968, some months before the change to the EEC catalog numbers. Several LP's are known with blue labels and the old "SMO" number." The change from the old logo to the new logo happened around catalog number 74 411. The EEC numbering began just after 74 490. 1C = Germany 2C = France 3C = Italy 4C = Belguim 5C = Holland 7C = Sweden 10C = Spain 11C = Portugal 14C = Greece Special note for Spain - "1J" instead of "10C" was used for several years (1969 to 1977, as from the "Get Back" single) to refer to records manufactured by EMI-Odeon in Spain, before the international "European codification". All references with "1J" were replaced by "10C" as from 1977. * GEMA (Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs- und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte.) was started in 1915 and handles the copyright in Germany. |
