This is The Beatles'
debut album in Germany. Odeon White & Gold label type-1: Odeon was the main label for German Beatles records until 1968, when the records were given the Apple labels, still distributed by Electrola. As an example, "With The Beatles", with a green Odeon label (being a mono LP), as opposed to white/gold labels for the stereo counterparts. The excerpt from the back cover shows the Electrola GmbH imprint. First 5 albums were released in both stereo and mono (except "The Beatles Beat": mono only)
For Domestic issue
ALLE RECHTE DES PLATTENHERSTELLERS UND EIGENTÜMERS DES AUFGENNOMMENEN WERKES VORBEHALTEN. VERVIELFÄLTIGUNG, ÖFFENTLICHE AUFFÜHRUNG. RUNDFUNKSENDUNG UNTERSAGT (ALL RIGHTS OF THE OWNER OF SHEET MANUFACTURER AND BEEN EXCLUDED WORK RESERVED. COPYING, PUBLIC PERFORMANCE. RADIO BROADCAST PROHIBITED) In mid 1966, the rim print was changed on all Odeon releases to read: URHEBER. UND LEISTUNGSSCHUTZRECHTE, BESONDERS VERVIELFÄLTIGUNG (AUSSER ZUM PERSÖNLICHEN GEBRAUCH), VERMIETUNG. AUFFÜHRUNG, SENDUNG, VORBEHALTEN (COPYRIGHT AND PROPERTY RIGHTS, ESPECIALLY REPRODUCTION (EXCEPT FOR PERSONAL USE), RENT, PERFORMANCE, BROADCAST) Stereo copies pressed prior to the elimination of mono are found with a large, round, gold stereo sticker (A.K.A. "Mirror Ball mark"). Stereo copies of those same LP's and of the next few (stereo-only) LP's are normally found with a smaller, rectangular stereo sticker. Later stereo LP's are found either with the contents of the stereo sticker printed on the cover itself or without any stereo sticker. Backside on cover "WITH THE BEATLES" in green letters, "Letzte Meldung (Latest News)" in blue letters. "All My Loving" includes five taps a hi-hat just prior to beginning of the recording. |

Odeon Light Green
label Type-1 with "MADE IN EEC" perimeter. DMM (*) pressing. For Domestic issue
1C = Germany 2C = France 3C = Italy 4C = Belgium 5C = Holland 7C = Sweden 10C = Spain 11C = Portugal 14C = Greece Special note for Spain - "1J" instead of "10C" was used for several years (1969 to 1977, as from the "Get Back" single) to refer to records manufactured by EMI-Odeon in Spain, before the international "European codification". All references with "1J" were replaced by "10C" as from 1977. *DMM: Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) is an analogue audio disc mastering technique issued by Neumann in cooperation with Teldec and Toolex in 1982. Unlike conventional disc mastering, where the mechanical audio modulation is cut onto a lacquer-coated aluminum disc, DMM cuts straight into metal (copper). The galvanic procedure that follows is not as complicated as the process for lacquers, and we can make stampers/matrixes directly from these plates, which can then be used for pressing. "All My Loving" includes five taps a hi-hat just prior to beginning of the recording. |
