The Beatles
in Italy is a Beatles compilation album released in Italy in
1965 (Parlophon PMCQ 31506). Despite its title, The Beatles
in Italy is not a live album, but, rather, a compilation of
previously released studio recordings. The album was issued
in Italy in 1965 to capitalise on the band's appearance in
Italy during their 1965 European tour, and the release of
the film, Help! Instead of consisting of songs that they
sang in Italy, the album consists entirely of single and EP
tracks that had not been collected into an LP. All original
copies of the LP were in mono. It is the real original first issue and is exactly the same as the black label pressing but came out for the first few months with a red label that has exactly the same artwork etc. as the black label but was the 1st. issue. There were very few copies with this red label compared to the next lot with black label. (The colour changed to black and silver after only 1 month-hence the rarity of the red label issue.) Gatefold type. Laminated front and back sides. The flaps can be seen at the upper and bottom place at inside of the gatefold cover. 1st press COVER: Gatefold type. Laminated front and back sides. boxed "Dischi Parlophon" logo bottom left on front; "DISCHI PARLOPHON logo CARISH s.p.a. MILANO" bottom on inside.
