COMMENTS | Using the normal Apple EP label of the time,
Japanese Odeon chose to release all twelve of the British EP's which they had not issued before. These too were issued as Compact 33's ‐‐on June 25, 1970. A few of the titles are known to exist on red vinyl. All of the above EP’s were issued at first when the price was 600 Yen. Later these were stickered with the higher price of ¥700. Still later copies simply show the ¥700 price. Even later, they were reissued with a reference to EMI on the label. Japanese first EP in "UK release series". In England, the first EP issued was "TWIST AND SHOUT (GEP 8882)", but this was not the first one manufactured and ready for release. The EP "THE BEATLES' HITS (GEP 8880)" was originally going to be issued in 1963 as the first EP, but was put on hold due to the great popularity of the song "Twist and Shout"; so, as an alternate EP, "TWIST AND SHOUT" was issued first instead. Similar design as the UK EP of the same name. On Apple Records "Made in Japan" with dark green apple label. Stereo: 33 r.p.m. with the small hole , Insert and obi strip. |
