Blue Toshiba Records
label with silver print. Stereo A (ace) Series. The words "LONG PLAYING" was printed at the bottom of the label. Toshiba Records logomark was printed at the upper left corner of the front sleeve. Issues with a "STEREO A SERIES" banner across the top of the cover. Stereo Screen Highlight: This is a compilation album of movie music featuring "La Ragazza Di Bube (Bobe's Lover)" just released at the time (released 12th. September 1964 in Japan). The record contains the song "A Hard Day's Night" performanced by "Screen Studio Orchestra / arrenged by Kosuke Onozaki (*). Red vinyl: Besides good sound and quality printing, Japanese records also offered some other things of interest to the collector. One of the primary manufacturing companies in Japan, Toshiba, pressed a lot of their records on red, “Everclean” vinyl from 1958 through 1974 (maybe). While not pressed as collectors’ items, these red vinyl pressings are more sought out by collectors than their black vinyl counterparts. The Everclean vinyl was designed to be less prone to collecting static electricity and dust than the more common black vinyl. (*) Kosuke Onozaki (28th. August 1931 - 11th. November 2017) Born in Akita City in 1931. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts. He was musical director, arranger, and conductor of Yamaha’s World Popular Song Festival for twenty years. As well as arrangements for television, movies, and commercials, he has arranged works by Kei Ogura and Miyuki Nakajima. In total, he has over ten thousand pieces of music to his name. He arranged and conducted the compilations “Discover favorite Japanese songs through their tunes” and “Discover favorite Japanese songs with an orchestra.” |
