Apple labels with ? & "Sold In The UK...." text. This was released in error omitting the text 'An E.M.I. Recording' on the label, so a second version was promptly released with the corrected labels. Eric Clapton uncredited on A7 for contractual reasons. First Press: Dark green label with an image of an apple on side 1 and sliced apple on side 2. First label variation have "33 1/3" text at the top line of the left side and "Sold In U.K. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists" text. Publishing year printed with small copyright symbol (p). "An E.M.I. Recording" text was not printed on the label. Matrix numbers: Side 1: XEX 709-1; Side 2: XEX 710-1; Side 3: XEX 711-1; Side 4: XEX 712-1. Full laminated white gatefold cover have flaps on the left and right sides of the open gatefold with openings at the top. The front of the cover has "The BEATLES" embossed in raised block letters. The stamped seven-digit number appears in gray on a slight downward angle towards the lower right corner. The back of the mono cover is completely blank. The right panel of the open gatefold has the four John Kelly black and white portraits running left to right (John, Paul, George and Ringo). The left panel has the titles to the album’s songs in gray on 12 row. The records were housed in black inner sleeves with a die-cut circular opening on one side to expose the Apple label. These sleeves were most likely manufactured by Harrison & Sons. The White Album contained: Four 28.8×20 cm glossy John Kelly color portraits of the band, were normally inserted into the left-side sleeve, sometimes with light-colored separator sheets. And 85.8 x57.2cm. While Hamilton collage poster, with the lyrics on the back, were normally inserted into the right-side sleeve. With a "FACTORY SAMPLE" sticker on the label of side-3. first cover had outlets at its top, as it was called as the
"Open Top" cover. Flaps inside the gatefold cover were visible at the left and the right sides. Each LP was issued with large poster and four glossy photos of each Beatle. Early copies were issued with a protector sheet placed on the top of each photo and have custom black inner sleeve. Each LP is sequentially numbered on lower right of front cover. The music publisher's name for George's and Ringo's songs was printed "Apple Publishing Ltd." Afterward, "Harrisongs Ltd." and "Startling Mus." Usual Beatles' Apple records have a credit saying "An EMI Recording" at the left upper portion of the label. But the early label has not. So, my album has the credit at the side-1 and side-2, but the second record (side-3 and side-4) does not have it. It seems that they are changing the label little by little. |

glossy because of the thinner vinyl coating. The song list
at the left side of the gatefold cover was printed slightly
darker and clearer than the early ones. They also added the
following words below the song list, "1968 Original Sound
Recordings made by EMI Records Limited". The flaps were made at both the top and the bottom, though they were not easily visible as they were folded and glued at inside. |

The reissued mono album in 1981. This album, their only original two record set, came in a white double LP cover, laminated both in and out, and the pockets for the records opened at the side. Each LP was issued with large color poster bearing a photo collage on one side, and the song lyrics on the other, and four glossy 8*11" color photos of each Beatle. |
