On 1st.
October
1969,
the Beatles issued the album "Abbey Road". The two opening
songs from
the record were pulled for release as a single on 6th.
October. the same songs were later issued as a single in England on Apple R5814 on 31th. October. There are four layout variations for "Something". All four variations may have used with first pressings of the single. The first variation:the song title, songwriters credit and the group's name below the center hole on the A side. The B side has the song title and songwriters credit in the lower left part of the apple and the group's name in the lower right part. Both sides have publishing information, time, record and matrix numbers, production credit and "Recorded in England" to the right of the center hole and"STEREO" at 9 O'clock. There are Los Angeles pressings with light green apples, and Jacksonville pressings with dark green apples. 1) The first pressings ave light green apple labels with Apple perimeter print on the B side. 2) Later pressings have Appe perimeter print on the A side. |

October. the same songs were later issued as a single in England on Apple R5814 on 31th. October. Original Apple U.S. West Coast RCA Hollywood(*) 45 with Apple Sleeve by The Beatles. Hollywood pressings were made in small numbers by RCA for Apple. Unlike the Capitol/Apple pressings which had grip edging, this one comes without the grip lines. Looks like a Canada pressing but it's a guaranteed US pressing. (*)RCA Pressing plant Hollywood which opened in ca. 1941 and closed in 1976. A major pressing and distribution facility for RCA. Pressing stamps: > H denotes a pressing from Hollywood, CA (Note: Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Hollywood, closed circa 1963, also used a stamped "H" that differs slightly from RCA. > I denotes a pressing from RCA Records Pressing Plant, Indianapolis > R denotes a pressing from RCA Records Pressing Plant, Rockaway The first alpha in runouts (for all plants) indicates year of mastering (between 1960 and 1977): L=60, M=61, N=62, P=63, R=64, S=65, T=66, U=67, W=68, X=69, Z=70, A=71, B=72, C=73, D=74, E=75, F=76, G=77.
